How to Live Stream Using the Livebox Encoder and Playout Software?

Livebox is the only streaming server that comes with many inbuilt features that are all needed for the complete live streaming process. Livebox doesn’t stop with streaming, transcoding, and Multi-Bitrate but also performs other role-plays like playout, video mixer, and encoder. Let’s get started with how to stream using playout and encoder software provided by Livebox.

  • Go to Playout window.

  • Click “Add File” to browse video source from your PC and to add video source in your Schedule Playlist.

  • Your video source is added. So, now click “Play” to play your video in Playout Preview.

  • You can preview your source and also enable and adjust the audio of your video source.

  • Now go to Livebox streaming server.
  • Create your channel in Livebox.
  • Then go to Channel Dashboard under Manage Channels from the navigation menu.
  • In Channel Dashboard click Streaming URL to copy the streaming RTMP URL.
  • Go to Encoder-Mixer-Playout and minimize your playout window and then get into Encoder.

  • A new Encoder window opens, where you can select your playout device in Video Device and then Audio Device, and then enter the copied RTMP URL in the URL tab.
  • Click “Preview” if you want to preview your live stream and then give “Start”.

Note:  Video Device is your device from where you’re taking your source to encode. And Audio Device is also mentioned (Streaming Playout Device) in the illustration as same as video device because we did enable audio settings in Playout settings.

  • Install the Livebox mobile app.

Note:  If your user registers from their mobile to subscribe to your channel, it is enough of you to activate your user’s device in your Livebox TV Manage Device option.

How to conduct Multi-bitrate Streaming Using the Livebox Playout and Encoder?

To conduct Multi-bitrate streaming using the Livebox Playout and Encoder software,

  • Create your channel in the Livebox streaming server.
  • Go to Manage Channels from the navigation menu. Under manage channels, select Multi-bitrate.

  • In Multi-bitrate page, select your channel and turn On multi-bitrate.

  • Once you turn on Multi-bitrate, the preset options will appear. You can set the required resolution and click “Save”.

Note:  You also have an option to edit or set your required preset.

  • Once you click save, RTMP URLs for your resolution gets listed below. Make a note of the required RTMP links and click “Save”.
  • With each URL of definite qualities (resolutions), the player will adjust video quality to that of viewers bandwidth.*The first given URL is the RTMP URL of your channel. The remaining URLs are RTMP URLs with resolutions.

Note:  The RTMP URL should be used to initiate the live streaming on your server channel. And the other RTMP URLs of resolutions can be used to deliver the same streaming content in different resolutions.

  • After clicking save, give “Service Restart” to get your changes applied.

Note:  Make sure to open the Playout/Mixer window first and then open the Encoder window.

  • In the Livebox Playout software, click “Add File” to browse video source from your PC and to add video source in your Schedule Playlist.  (You also have the option to add your camera source and YouTube URLs through the Playout software)

  • Your video source is added. So, now click “Play” to play your video in Playout Preview

  • Now on the Livbox Encoder, go to the “Advanced Settings”.

  • On the Encoder Advanced Settings, click the drop-down menu to set the preset as Multibitrate.
  • You can enable (select) the “Preview” option after selecting your video device.

  • In Video Settings, enable the video option and then select your “Device” as Streaming Playout Device.
  • Copy the URLs from the Multi-bitrate settings and enter it in the given URL bars. Then set the bitrate. (Give the bitrate same as the resolution of the RTMP link you have entered in the URL bar)

  • After setting up all these options, click on the “Start” button.

  • To view your live MBR streaming status with the definite video quality, go the Livebox Dashboard and check on the player.

  • Then go to Viewers Report to check the RTMP stats of your streaming channel. It shows audio and video bitrate of your channel.

How to Create a Video Conference App on Livebox?

To create a video conference mobile app,

  • Go to the Livebox App Store.

How to Create a User on the Livebox TV?

  A User in the Livebox TV can be created in either way- the user itself can register through the Livebox TV signup portal or the admin can also manually create a user by giving the user’s credentials.

To manually create your user,

  • Go to “Users” from the navigation menu.

If the user registers using the signup portal, then the user gets added to your user’s list from where you can subscribe the user to your Livebox TV.

How to Live Stream using the Livebox Instacast Encoder Device?

The Livebox Instacast is a portable hardware encoder device that can live stream even with the low-internet connectivity. It is just enough to have this encoder device fixed to the camera to start the live streaming from anywhere. Even in the absence of a camera, live streaming can still be carried out with the help of a USB device.

Note:  To access the Encoder settings page from your browser, you can use the IP visible on your Encoderdevice along with the port URL (:3978) provided by the IVB7 team. E.g., 127.0.0.1:3978

  • Turn on your Livebox Instacast device.
  • Make sure that you have connected your camera/USB device to the Livebox Instacast encoder.
  • For the network connectivity, you can use it through the LAN or Wi-Fi connection.
  • Now login to the Encoder settings page from your browser.

How to Broadcast on Live Radio App using the BUTT Streaming Software?

  • Install BUTT streaming software on your PC.

(BUTT is a multi-operating system client broadcaster. The software is compatible with Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows.)

  • Now back on the Live Radio app, create your Station.
  • Create a Streamer DJ account on the Live Radio app.
  • Make sure that you have enabled your SHOUTcast/Icecast Port on the “Settings”.

  • Then enable your port and “Save” the settings.

Note:  To get your Port details, go to your Streamer DJ account.

  • Now to get your password i.e, if you are the admin of this app, then you can go back to your station profile.
  • On your profile under Broadcasting Service, you can get your source password.
  • Back again on the BUTT settings, enter the password.
  • After entering your details, click the “ADD” button.

Once the information has been saved, a Connection established message will appear along with a configuration summary. You can now go on with your radio broadcasting by clicking on “Play”.

Once you are connected, a timer will be displayed. That’s it, you’re now broadcasting!

How to Create a Single Page App for the 24/7 Live Streaming Purpose?

Creating a mobile app for your live streams is simple and same as creating an IPTV mobile app.

To create a single page app for your live streaming

  • You have to create a stream group for your streaming channel in MultiCDN settings.

  • And then in APK Builder, under SPA- Live Streaming, click on the “Create an app” button.

Note:  In App Name, there shouldn’t be any space or special characters given.

  • In the Server URL, the app creation form will automatically read your server URL and display it on the bar.
  • Then in Stream Group ID, give the stream ID you have created in the MultiCDN settings.
  • Now browse and set your app icon and logo.
  • Finally, click on the “Generate App”.

  • Now you have to undergo few settings that involve replacing the custom values in the index.html and theme.css editor pages.
  • In the index.html code editor, you can replace the custom values of address, contact, E-mail, website with your company details.
  • In theme.css code editor, you can change the theme background of your mobile app template.

Note:  In the index.html box code editor, scroll down to find the custom values in the flower brackets (e.g., {{phone number}} as 9876543210) and replace with your company details.
